We are pleased to offer our West Tan Matte Buffalo Leather Strips. Our Strips are cut from B Grade Water Buffalo double butts. West Tan is a style of finishing leather rather than a color. It’s achieved by applying a matte finish to the surface of the buffalo leather after it has been buffed and smoothed out.
Available in three different weights: 3/4oz, 6/7oz, and 8/oz - reference our leather weight guide for more information on picking the right weight/thickness.
Our buffalo leather is fully aniline dyed, which may or may not mean something to a buyer but let us explain why it matters. Only the highest quality leather is selected for the aniline-dyed process because the leather is dyed exclusively with soluble dyes. The dye colors the leather without producing the uniform surface of a topcoat paint or insoluble pigmented sealant.
Any sort of visible imperfections such as scars, bug bites, range marks, or pores will be more visible and the blemishes will be amplified. Our vegetable tanned vintage glazed buffalo leather will not accept water, will not wet mold or tool, and it will not accept the dye.
This leather is ideal for finished high-end leather belts, guitar straps, and these strips make excellent leather cuff bracelets. We offer these strips to you in three available weights and in 11 different widths you can choose from using the drop dox box. If you don’t see the width or weight you need please contact us for a custom order and we will cut a belt strip in the width and weight you need!
